Faculty of Biology

As of the date of Baku State Universities’ establishment, such spheres as biology, anatomy, physiology, zoology, botany and others were taught at the Medical faculty since 1919The independent activity of Biology faculty began from 1934. There were 4 departments at the faculty: botany, zoology, physiology of humans and animals, anatomy and physiology of plants. The first dean of the faculty was plant physiologist, Professor D. Shutov. In 1961under the department of physiology of humans and animals there were opened scientific research labs “Biostimulant” and “Biotechnology”.
The faculty has 10 departments and 3 scientific research labs.

At the bachelor stage the professionals in the following specialties are prepared:
